Mourning Sampler 1803

This 202 year old framed piece has the Preston family history inserted on the right hand side! It is a memorial to a John Preston who died in 1783. It was carefully stitched in 1803 by his sister Hetta Preston at the age of 20. These samplers were a labor of love and took many months to achieve. Stitched in silk thread over painted linen. About 14 by 14 in size. In an old frame with a wooden backing. There is a small amount of thread loss.
